The International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) is one of the most eminent examinations at the college level. In a total of hundred competing countries, a bunch of six students are chosen to represent their respective countries in order to win the coveted Gold Medal. In India, the selection of these students is done through Indian National Mathematics Olympiad (INMO) which acts as a passage to IMO. About 30 candidates are shortlisted from all over the country through this test. This is followed by training at the Orientation Cum Selection Camp (OCSC), and six from amongst them are chosen to represent India at the IMO. The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a scholarship program that is funded by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, for students who are exceptionally talented and highly inspired to pursue basic science courses and research career in science.
