Managing Exam Stress: 6 Tips To Help You!

As the competition to score well in entrance exams increases every day, the stress rises as well. Exam pressure and stress are synonymous with each other. This pressure is the result of high expectations that families, peers and society puts on students in order to score well. However, it has just the opposite effects. The mere thought of failure ruins the mind and body balance, compromising the productivity and the concentration power. Not only does it affect our mental ability adversely, it causes various health issues as well. At Charaka’s NEET coaching classes in Bangalore, we conduct special sessions for our students in order to help them cope up with exam stress and anxiety.

Dealing with exam stress is not rocket science in theory, but might seem quite difficult to successfully implement it in practicality. However, taking one step at a time will definitely make it easier.

So, here we focus on the 6 tips you can practice in order to minimize the levels of stress;

1.      Take short breaks: To prevent mental fatigue, take a short break as soon as you notice your mind is losing concentration. A break of 10-15 minutes after an hour of rigorous study helps you concentrate better.  It enables your mind to relax and rejuvenate, while boosting your memory skills. You can opt for activities you like during this period, like music, meditation or long walks in the garden.

2.      Get a new perspective: Looking at things from a different and new perspective proves to be an optimal way to beat stress. Try to turn it into a tool that drives you into the right direction and be more productive. At the end of the day, it comes down to the way you carry your stress that becomes the deciding factor in your exams. You need to have a positive outlook with healthy stress to make your life easier.

3.      Be reminded of your goals:
Continuously be aware of what you’re trying to achieve. Remember the reason you are working so hard and keep reminding yourself about your aim. This will keep on the right track while helping you move forward in your struggle. When you are motivated to do well, the mind doesn’t focus on the stress but on positivity.

4.      Don’t let distractions get the best of you: The uncontrollable need to check their phones every two minutes is the most common problem with students today. With close proximity to gadgets and social media, it is possible that students lose their focus while scrolling through their news feeds. To avoid any such situations, make sure to stay away from all things that can distract you from your studies at least during the time you’ve allotted for that sole purpose.

5.      Be positive and confident: Having a positive outlook helps you in achieving your desired goals. Make a note in your mind that success is near to you and all that is required is hard work. Try to give it your best shot. Stay away from any negative thoughts that might befall you.

6.      Eat healthy: As the exam time comes near, students change their usual routine to compensate for lost times. They skip meals in the quest for long study sessions. It is important to eat in regular intervals each day, as food is the fuel for a healthy mind. Eat well: this will help your ability to think, concentrate and last the distance.
